Ellie Asks: i really really need to keep my knees closer together when im dancing because they ae quite wide at the mo....any tips?? x
Answer: Wide, gappy knees are a problem that many Irish Dancers have, so you're not alone. You need to try and really cross the tops of your legs as well as your feet. You also need to pull up on your knees. If you are bending or sinking your knees when you dance then you'll get a big gap between them. Make sure you are doing lots of stretches to ensure the muscle behind the knee is not too tight. Stand with your legs slightly apart and bend over and put the palms of your hands on the floor without bending your knees. Hold for 30 seconds and then repeat 3 times. Practise in front of a full length mirror and you'll be able to see your knees yourself. This should help. Let me know how it goes. Keep practising and it will get better. Great to chat.
